Alli
Alli is the first FDA approved, over-the-counter weight loss product. It works by blocking your body from absorbing about a quarter of the fat you eat, which should pass through the body naturally. As a result, those who take Alli must eat a low-fat diet to prevent unpleasant side effects and to see weight loss results. Alli pills also come with an online plan, called myalliplan, which can be customized to help you lose weight gradually. Alli only works in conjunction with exercise and a healthy eating plan, and although it claims you should lose 50% more weight with the pill than dieting alone, users may gain weight after stopping use of the pill.
Unfortunately, Alli can cause bowel problems such as loose stools, which may be frequent or urgent, and increased flatulence, side effects which can last anywhere from a week to over six months. Since bowel movements can be urgent and unpredictable, the manufacturers of alli recommend on their website for users to wear dark pants and bring a change of clothes. Although Alli may help you lose weight, it sounds like an unflattering method.
