Guarana
Guarana is a creeping shrub native to Venezuela and northern Brazil in the Amazon rain forest with small, red fruit which have black seeds. These seeds contain up to 4 times the caffeine of coffee beans. Guarana a stimulant that can increase mental alertness, fight fatigue, and increase physical endurance. Guarana soda is common and very popular in Brazil, about as popular as Coca-Cola in America. After the ban of ephedra, America started using Guarana in teas, energy drinks, and as an ingredient in weight loss pills. It is classified in the U.S. as safe, not causing jitters similar to caffeine and even being praised for its ability for weight loss and improved memory function. Guarana is only harmful if taken in large doses. Although guarana is found in several forms it’s generally best used for weight loss when combined with other ingredients, which can increase the cost.
